November 2023

November marked a full year in Kodiak for me.

I started to enter a slump in my landscape photography so this post is a bit short but I’m hoping to get back to feeling inspired and shooting soon.

Warm Skies

The month started strong with epic skies and nice silhouettes.

Glow from the edge of the storm

There was also a bit of snow that day, but for a few glorious minutes the sun shone on the backs of the mountains.

Beams of light

I didn’t have a lot of energy to do more than use my telephoto lens to zoom in but I think the images are good nonetheless.

The light on the mountains was incredible that month. It was so windy, you may be able to see some of the spray from the bay.

Flights to/from Dillingham

I went back to Dillingham for Thanksgiving this year and it was so nice to be with family. I got sick, but it felt great to have time with them. The amazing views from the flights helped.

I love the ways the rivers and deltas flow and sway.

The Turnagain Arm near Anchorage also has these amazing mudflats.

It was a wonderful trip. Thanksgiving dinner was cancelled because half of us got sick, but at least we had fresh antibodies to spend Christmas together in December. That blog also has some of, in my opinion, my best work of the year.
